As a child I dreamed of building my own space ship and flying off alone to visit the stars. I was science focussed through school and it was while studying physics at Sussex University I went to see a great exhibition of kinetic art at the Hayward Gallery that was to change my life.
After completing my science degree I took another in Fine Art at Exeter Art College. I spent ten years working in stage lighting before turning my full attention to light art. I have continued to be passionate about physics and astronomy throughout my life; my art has become a spaceship for my imagination.
The talk is a whirlwind tour through more than forty years of creating light art illustrated with many photos starting from my earliest experiments, a sprinkling of videos and ending with a performance of hand held light sculptures.
